We wrapped up our eventing season this year with a trip to Hagyard Midsouth CCI* with 6 WCE horses in tow. Team Rebecca’s Dondante and KBLB & Lyda White’s Highly Suspicious contested their very first FEI competitions in the CCI*. Dondante aka ‘Al’ added nothing to his dressage score all weekend coming home in 6th place. One unfortunate rail kept Highly Suspicious, ‘Nick’ out of the top ten and he finished in 17th place out of 50 starters. We are very proud of these two 6 year olds who have grown up a lot this year! Huge thanks to their incredible owners in Team Rebecca, KBLB Event Horses and Ms Lyda White. It takes a lot of patience with the development of these young horses and we’re so fortunate to have you all on board!
Student Annie Goeke was having a cracking round until she suffered an unfortunate tumble from Kiltubrid Rebel late on xc in the one star. No worse for wear, she picked herself up and enjoyed a successful upgrade to the Preliminary level with her second horse, DRS Cooley, placing 6th!
Our very own head girl Sarah Rupert finally got to go to a big horse show this year and successfully piloted her young mare around her first Preliminary. Look out for these two at Bromont CCI* next year!
Big thank you to Miranda Akins of Photography In Stride for the beautiful photos!

What a week at Fair Hill International!
It was certainly a busy one with Christine Turner’s Rusticus and Team Rebecca’s Tropics in the 5 Year Old Young Event Horse Championships, KBLB’s Gideon and Ken and Kathleen McDermott’s Boris O’Hara in the CCI**, and The Conair Syndicate’s Soupçon de Brunet and Tight Lines in the CCI***.
The young horses kicked our week off well with Team Rebecca’s Tropics ultimately placing 4th in the 5 year old class. He definitely stood out even in a class of some very nice youngsters and we are very excited about this one’s future!
Onto the big boys… while we didn’t have our best scores in the little white box, we are most proud of the 4 double clean rounds we had on Saturday. To have every horse come in clear over fences and inside the time was quite an accomplishment and we have an extensive team of people to thank for the horse’s preparedness for the task!
All 4 presented well Sunday morning and we ultimately finished the weekend with 3/4 horses adding nothing to their dressage score!
Boris O’Hara finished 4th in the CCI** and was also awarded the Fitness Award.
Gideon placed 9th in the CCI**.
Soupcon de Brunet finished 10th in the CCI***.
Tight Lines finished 24th in the CCI***.
Huge thanks to Victoria Jessop, Chelsey Sevigny and Beth McGranahan for busting their butts at the horse show all week and taking such great care of the boys. Thanks also to our wonderful girls who stayed home to keep the rest of the crew ticking over in preps for Midsouth next week – Sarah Rupert, Anna Vloedman, Lauren Tucci and Elena Hengel. We could not do this without each of you!
Thanks as always to our incredible group of owners and syndicate members who continue to humble Will and I with their support!
Thanks also to my wonderful parents who drove all the way from Canada to support us and who also helped hold a horse here and there!
It really takes a village and we have the best village!

Morven Park was a busy weekend for us! Up and on the road to Leesburg 4 very early mornings in a row made this a bit of a marathon weekend but the horses had great weekends so it was well worth it!
The Four Star Eventing Group’s Butch Cassidy contested his first CIC** and placed 5th. This 7 year old is a classy dude and we can’t wait to see what he does next year! Good boy Newman!
The Off The Record Syndicate’s Off The Record and KBLB’s Gideon had great runs in the Intermediate Horse Trials division with a 3rd and 4th place respectively.
Team Rebecca’s Don Dante placed 5th and Lyda White’s Highly Suspicious placed 6th in the Preliminary division and these two 6 year olds will look next to their first FEI start at the Kentucky Horse Park in the CCI* in a few weeks!
September 25, 2016
It wasn’t quite our weekend at Plantation Field CIC with Boris in the CIC** and Phish and Soupçon in the CIC***. With less than stellar dressage marks, we found ourselves a little further out of the race than we would have liked after the first day with all the boys – no fault of theirs – just not our day! Despite the fantastic efforts of the grounds crews, with the ground being as hard as it was, we decided not to run Boris and he finished his weekend with a combined test. Onward to Fair Hill for him!
The Conair Syndicate boys (Phish and Soup) needed their runs in the CIC*** for us to feel good about their preparation for Fair Hill CCI*** next month and we couldn’t have been happier with how they ran. We had long forgotten about dressage by the time they crossed that finish line – they are such XC machines! With two double cleans we are very proud of their performances and are feeling good about Fair Hill!

Seneca was good to us again with Will Coleman Equestrian bringing home a few blue ribbons! Butch Cassidy moved up to the Intermediate level in class fashion with a wire to wire win by 13 points. Our own Sarah Rupert and her mare Glennbrooke Cooley won their Training division – very well deserved! Youngsters Highly Suspicious, Don Dante, Tropics and War Begun all had great runs finishing well inside the top ten in their respective divisions.

Another great weekend at Richland Park! Bob and Kay and their wonderful crew of staff and volunteers put on an incredible week of sport and we are very thankful!
The Conair Syndicate’s Soupçon de Brunet stormed around his first 3* track with just one hiccup slipping down the bank into the first water resulting in a unfortunate 20. He picked up and finished well and full of
run. Sadly, as a result of the slip, he tweaked a muscle in his shoulder and we could not present him to the ground jury Sunday morning and had to withdraw. He looks great upon arriving home and we are optimistic that he will be back out at Plantation in a few weeks!
The Conair Syndicate’s Tight Lines was the victor in the CIC***! ‘Phish’ performed a very workmanlike dressage test to sit 2nd going into cross country. After a double clear across the country and another double clear in show jumping the next day we found ourselves at the top of the leaderboard! Very proud of our Phishy!
Special thanks to Katie Strickland for taking such great care of the boys all weekend and helping with the long drive to and from Michigan!

Just got back from a very successful weekend at fantastic Fitch’s Corners! All in all, WCE took 7 horses and not one placed outside the top 4!
Team Rebecca had a winning weekend with Tropics who led from start to finish in his Training Horse division. “Toby” is certainly looking good on his way to the 5 year
old Young Event Horse Championships at Fair Hill this October. Dondante, also owned by Team Rebecca, had another great Preliminary outing placing 3rd.
The Four Star Eventing Group’s Butch Cassidy continued his winning ways adding another blue ribbon to his collection. “Newman” was class all weekend and handily won his OP division. He will look to move up to Intermediate at Millbrook next month.
After withdrawing before cross country last weekend at MDHT due to less than ideal footing, Ken and Kathleen McDermott’s Boris O’Hara cruised around the Preliminary here this weekend and placed 2nd to Newman. Boris is such a lovely horse and he and Will are really starting to click. We feel good about and look forward to testing this horse at the next level at Millbrook in a few weeks. Kathleen said Boris is looking forward to a “re-match” with Newman!
Last but certainly not least, Lyda White and KBLB’s Highly Suspicious probably had the most fans this weekend as they cruised around to a 4th place finish in the Preliminary Horse division just behind Al. “Nick”, with his flashy roan coloring, is a feisty dude in the warm up ring but certainly looks the part when he’s on course! We look forward to this one’s future as he seems to have 4* written all over him! Vote for Nick in Eventing Nation’s “Who Jumped it Best” Contest here!
Longtime student Ann Goeke had a great weekend with her chestnut boys DRS Cooley and Kiltubrid Rebel who placed 2nd & 3rd in the Open Training. Big thanks to Tom and Lucy for helping out all weekend videographing and stripping stalls!
Thanks as always to Fernanda Kellogg and Kirk Henckels and their crew of staff and volunteers at Fitch’s Corners who put on another fantastic weekend for us. Our young horses truly benefit from showing in the wonderful atmosphere there and we certainly appreciate all of the hard work that goes in to making it happen. We look forward to this event every year!
Can’t forget a big thank you to David Frechette aka “Thehorsepesterer” for taking incredible video all weekend! We are so grateful for his contribution to the sport and I know our owners really appreciate being able to watch their horses go – especially if I can’t make it to the ring with the iPad! Check out our playlist from Fitch’s on YouTube here.

Great weekend at Great Meadow! The Conair Syndicate’s Tight Lines is officially an Advanced and 3* horse all in the same weekend! After a relatively quiet season thus far we suffered a few rusty moments in the atmosphere in dressage and show jumping but Phish handled the cross country like a pro and cruised around with just a few time faults. So proud of how hard this horse tries and the progress he continues to make! Onto Millbrook Advanced next month!
Big thanks to the organizers and volunteers at Great Meadow who put on an incredible event with top notch hospitality and organization. The horses were very comfortable in the stabling with nice big stalls and the catering for the riders and grooms was fantastic. We look forward to coming back next year!
June 28th, 2016
Another good weekend of horse trials for WCE! The Four Star Eventing Group’s Butch Cassidy won his Open Preliminary division and continues to get stronger and more consistent in all three phases. “Newman” is really becoming a horse you can count on.
Team Rebecca’s Dondante made his Preliminary debut with an 11th place in the same division. “Al” is still figuring out all of his parts but there is so much to be excited about with this big young horse! Team Rebecca’s War Begun continues to improve with an 8th place finish in a competitive Training division. “Wally” is such a lovely horse and tries very hard to please. (War Begun is currently offered for sale – visit our sales page here.)
Teresa Loughlin’s Cooley Mahgeetah continued his successful Preliminary campaign racking up another QR for Midsouth CCI* in the fall. With a few planned time faults on cross country he ultimately placed 6th in a competitive OP division.
Students Ann Goeke and Sarah Rupert both had successful weekends with their horses and made us proud! Thanks again to Beth for working so hard at the show and everyone at home for holding down the fort!
June 20th, 2016
Great weekend at Seneca Valley Horse Trials! On top of a 2:30 am start, it was nothing short of hectic day as Will had 6 horses competing in the Intermediate and Preliminary one day.
Ken and Kathleen McDermott’s Boris O’Hara and the ConAir Syndicate’s Soupçon de Brunet both won their Open Preliminary divisions. Both equally exciting as this was Will’s first competition with Boris and also Soupçon’s first event back after a year long hiatus due to injury. We are so excited about these big bay boys!
Teresa Loughlin’s Cooley Mahgeetah placed second to Soupçon in the OP. This horse is very reliable and really starting to gallop.
Tight Lines had a great event back after a short break this spring placing 2nd in the Open Intermediate A and looks right on point as we prepare for Great Meadow CIC3*. Off the Record continued his impressive Intermediate form with a 3rd place in the OIB.
Lyda White’s Highly Suspicious made a successful Preliminary debut with a much improved dressage test and clean show jump round. An exuberant jump into water resulted in a green fly by out but we are thrilled with this young horse and how much he has matured this spring!
Our amazing girls Sarah Rupert and Beth McGranahan handled the horse prep logistics like the pros that they are and largely contributed to the successful day.
Thanks as always to our incredible team of hard working girls and guys that make Will Coleman Equestrian possible for Will and I; we couldn’t do it without you guys!

Another fantastic event at Jaguar Land Rover Bromont CCI! Bromont is one of North America’s greatest three days and we are always so excited to attend. The footing is impeccable, the hospitality second to none and Derek’s cross country courses are such educational experiences for the horse. This year we took KBLB’s Gideon to contest this horse’s first CCI2*. “Roy” had a great weekend ultimately finishing in 8th place after adding just 1.6 time to his cross country and one rail down to his dressage score.
We had a great time in Quebec and enjoyed a serving or two of poutine! Big thanks to Jess Wilson for taking such great care of Roy all weekend.
October 19th, 2015
A fantastic weekend at Fair Hill International with The Conair Syndicate’s Tight Lines winning the CCI**! “Phish” was on point from start to finish leading from day one on an impressive dressage score of 42.5. Adding nothing to that with a double clear cross country and show jumping round he came home with the blue! We are so proud of this horse and how far he has come this year!
In the East Coast Young Event Horse Championships, Team Rebecca’s Dondante and KBLB and Lyda White’s Highly Suspicious both showed incredible promise. Dondante, (“Al”), by Pacino, ultimately placed third after getting both the highest confirmation and jump scores all weekend! Highly Suspicious (“Nick”), by Russell and out of a Cruising mare, finished 8th.
October 12th, 2015
Will Coleman Equestrian had a busy weekend this past with 7 horses competing at MDHT in Maryland. Gideon, owned by KBLB Event Horses, showed impressive form in his second intermediate placing 5th after just adding a few cross country time penalties. KBLB and Lyda White’s youngster Highly Suspicious as well as Team Rebecca’s Dondante finished their first training level events and both look in great form going into the East Coast Young Event Horse Championships at Fair Hill next week. Longtime WCE student Annie Goeke debuted her new horses and had a great weekend on both notably placing 3rd in the OT with Kiltubird Rebel. While the event horses represented well at Loch Moy, the hunt horses represented even better at the Field Hunter Championships with non other than Will Coleman JR himself in the irons! Mr. Coleman (aka Papa C, aka Pops, aka The Big Guy) and his TB gelding “Flying Aces” showed impressive form negotiating the handy hunter type course and were ultimately named the 2015 North American Field Hunter Champions. Held the morning of the Virginia Races in Middleburgh, Papa C and Ace won the Theodora A. Randolph Field Hunter Trophy and this will be the second time his name is engraved on that trophy! Congrats Pops; we are so proud!!

WCE is very proud to announce the addition of four star rider Caitlin Silliman to the team! Well known for her time with Boyd and Silva Martin at Windurra LLC, Caitlin brings a wealth of experience to the table as a new jockey. With so many young horses in training and all the time spent at competitions and abroad, it was obvious that we were in need of another professional in the ranks. Caitlin has brought along her 4* mare Catch a Star as well as her 1* mount, Vagabon de Champdoux – whom she purchased from us in the fall of 2014 after he won the 5 year old YEH Championships at Fair Hill. Caitlin is a true professional and we look forward to having her here at Tivoli. Caitlin will be operating her own independent operation from one of our satellite barns and will be accepting new horses and students in for training in 2016. For more information on her move click here. Please visit Caitlin’s website Silliman Eventing and Silliman Eventing on Facebook.

After putting in a double-clean cross-country round on one of the toughest three-star tracks in the world yesterday, Oboe jumped a double-clear stadium jumping round today to finish in 11th place on his dressage score at the Blenheim CCI3*. We are absolutely thrilled for his owners, The Four Star Eventing Group, and all those associated with USEF Eventing High Performance this weekend! It was a great weekend for the Stars and Stripes.
The Four Star Eventing Group’s OBOS O’Reilly passed the first horse inspection at Blenheim Palace International CCI3* today and is set to canter down the center line tomorrow at 4:37pm local time. Good luck Will and Oboe!
The Four Star Eventing Group’s OBOS O’Reilly has begun his three day trek to Blenheim. Save travels to Oboe and the WCE team!
August 23rd, 2015
Team WCE just finished up a great weekend at Richland Park with the Four Star Eventing Group’s OBOS O’Reilly smoking around the CIC3* track inside the time. This was a great run leading up to Blenheim in a few weeks! Tight Lines had a beautiful show jump round yesterday but needed a bit of a hand brake on cross-country! He jumped clean adding just a few time penalties to his score finishing the weekend in good form. Chase Shipka’s Rehy USA had a fantastic weekend finishing on his dressage score in the huge CIC1* for 5th place. This lovely 10 year old is currently offered for sale! A big thanks to Jess for taking impeccable care of the boys this week, and as always, the crew at home for keeping the ship afloat!
July 6th, 2015 Congratulations to Will, Oboe and all the members of the Four Star Eventing Group as they have received a Land Rover Travel Grant to compete at Blenheim CCI3* in September! A big thank you to USEF Eventing High Performance and Land Rover for making this possible. Look out England, here they come!
June 8th, 2015
Team WCE had a phenomenal weekend at the Bromont Canada International Event. In the CCI1*, Butch Cassidy was the star on dressage day, laying down a 39 in the CCI1* to claim 2nd place in division heading into cross-country. His running mate, Gideon, stood in 15th position after a decent test in his weakest phase. Then, both horses put in double-clean rounds over a very tough cross-country course! Both horses performed well to finish 2nd and 10th. In the CCI2*, Tight Lines put in a lovely test to start off the weekend. He then put in two beautiful double-clean jumping rounds on Saturday and Sunday to finish 6th overall.
May 10th, 2015
It was a great weekend for The Conair Syndicate’s Tight Lines at Jersey Fresh! With just one horse competing it was practically a vacation!
A few too many mistakes in the dressage kept Will and “Phish” out of the running but we are thrilled with the quality of work that this horse is starting to show. He jumped very well with one down in the show jumping and cruised around the cross country like it was a walk in the park. With minimal time faults they moved up and finish 8th in the CIC2*. Phish is just such a dude! We are looking forward to Bromont CCI2* next month.
April 29th, 2015 Will Coleman Equestrian is looking for a working student to join their team! If you are interested in this excellent opportunity, please email email@example.com for more information!
April 27th, 2015
Will Coleman Equestrian had an absolutely fabulous weekend at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event! Will and OBOS O’Reilly competed in the horse’s first CCI4* event, finishings in 6th place overall and as the USEF National Reserve Champions. Will and Oboe were placed 31st after the two days of dressage competition, and moved up to 8th place with a double clear cross-country round. As the pair that finished closest to the optimum time, they were awarded the Land Rover Best Ride of the Day Award, taking home a two-year lease on a 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport! Oboe also won the award for Best Conditioned Horse. Will and Oboe turned in a four-fault ride around a tough stadium course to ultimately finish in 6th Place and as the 2nd highest placed American pair. Additionally, OBOS O’Reilly’s groom Mark Swan took home the Best Turned Out award for his stellar presentation of Oboe all weekend! Special mention to his right hand girl (and WCE student) Annie Goeke for her invaluable assistance.
“What else can you say about this horse? He is a beast, and we are all so proud of him. To his owners, our staff, and the vast support crew of grooms, vets, farriers, and friends, thank you for being a part of this amazing animal, in this wonderful sport.”
We’re a bit late to wrap up our weekend at Carolina as we’ve been busy getting everyone settled back in at Tivoli! It is great to be home!
First off a huge thank you to Cloud 11/Gavilan North LLC and all of their organizing commitees and volunteers! The Carolina International Horse Trials have truly become one of the most incredible events on our calendar. No stone was left unturned – the needs of owners, riders, grooms and most importantly the horses were all met to the highest of standards.
Our boys finished up the weekend well with the youngsters taking the spotlight! Will Coleman Equestrian and Augie Vettorino’s Cooley Off The Record completed his first Preliminary in class form to finish in 4th place. The Luckington Syndicate’s Luckington had a great weekend and finished 8th over a tough Intermediate track. The Conair Syndicate’s Tight Lines heads back to the drawing board after a few blips in his weekend but there is still much to be excited about with this horse. FSEG’s OBOS O’Reilly was feeling a little big for his britches in most phases but obviously quite happy to be out competing. He was in great form all weekend – despite the fire breathing! – and we look forward to the Fork Advanced next weekend. Not to be forgotten, Twizzel and Morgan Booth kicked off their spring season with a win in the Training division! Twizzel is pretty sure he is at the Olympics every time he goes to a horse show. Can you believe he is 19 years old? Great job, kiddo! Big thank you to Mark for taking such great care of the boys all weekend and of course Annie, Lizz and Tori for holding down the fort back home and doing a wonderful job with the horses. We are so lucky to have such a great team around us! Thank you to Allie Conrad Photography for the great photos of Team WCE from Carolina International!
February 12th, 2015 Please join us in welcoming two new young and talented prospects to the WCE team! Don Dante, aka “Al”, is a bay 16.3 hand Irish Sport Horse gelding by Pacino owned by KBLB Event Horses, and Highly Suspicious, aka “Nick”, is a grey 16.1 hand Irish Sport Horse gelding by Russell, owned by KBLB Event Horses and Lyda White. Will is extremely excited about the future of these two youngsters! Many thanks to Richard Sheane and his staff at Cooley Sport Horses for hand-delivering and settling in these two lovely new five year olds for us! Thank you for all of your help this past week, it has been wonderful having you!
December 15th, 2014 Will Coleman Equestrian is ready to head south for the winter! This year, Will Coleman Equestrian is excited to announce that we will be based at Liz Halliday’s beautiful new farm in Ocala, Horsepower Equestrian. We are looking forward to wintering in this fabulous new location, complete with 100 x 50 jumping arena, a full-sized dressage arena with mirrors, a hot walker and round pen, ample turnout and tons of hacking.
December 1th, 2014 It is with happy, heavy hearts that we congratulate Caitlin Silliman on the purchase of the Young Event Horse 5 Year Old Champion, Vagabon de Champdoux aka “James”. We were reluctant to let this horse go but unfortunately he is just a bit too small for Will’s 6’2″ stature and is much better suited to a smaller rider like Caitlin. We couldn’t have asked for a better home for him with an exciting young professional and we look forward to following James’ career with Caitlin!
November 19th, 2014 Our young horses have had a tremendous amount of success this year, and we are excited about their collective future. With that in mind, it is with great excitement that we announce that one of our syndicates, the Four-Star Eventing Group, has acquired a majority stake in KBLB’s Butch Cassidy, a talented 5 year old prospect. This follows the sale of FSEG’s Cooley Mahgeetah, a wonderful 5 year old Irish Sport Horse earlier this fall. KBLB will retain a 30% equity stake in the horse. Butch Cassidy, or “Newman,” has impressed all year, and finished off his 2014 campaign with a win in a Preliminary division at the Virginia Horse Trials on a score of 29! Building a top-level string from the ground up is WCE’s priority going forward, and this is a big step in that direction. Thanks to all the owners who have bought into this process! Looking forward to the years ahead.
November 13th, 2014 Will and Katie want to thank everyone who came from near and far to celebrate their marriage on November 8th at the Keswick Hunt Club. What a fantastic evening with friends and family!
Congratulations to Teresa Loughlin of Middleburg, VA on the purchase Cooley Mahgeetah! “Ollie” is a 2009 Irish Sport Horse Gelding that Will purchased as a three-year-old from the Goresbridge Go-For-Gold sale. In 2014, Ollie won the Training level division at Fitch’s Corner, finishing on his dressage score of 30, and placed 4th in the 5-year-old YEH division at Waredaca. He also won the Open Training division at Surefire, finishing on an impressive dressage score of 22.4, and successfully made the move up to Preliminary level in September. WCE wishes Teresa the best of luck with this fabulous and talented young star!
