Competition Horses

We are grateful to have an amazing string of horses and owners that make it possible for WCE to achieve its goals. Here are a few of our current competition horses and their owners and/or syndicates.

Off the Record “Timmy”

Foaled: 2009
Breed:
Irish Sport Horse (Arkansas x Ohio)
Sex:
Gelding
Owned By:
Off the Record Syndicate

2021 Aachen Winner

Team Silver Medalist at 2022 World Championships

Timmy is one of many horses that Will has sourced through his friend Richard Sheane of the now famous Cooley Farm. Bought as a 4-year-old, Timmy was a tough nugget as a youngster, but blossomed as an 8-year-old, finishing as Reserve National Champion in the 3* at Fair Hill International. He has since won several 4* level events, including the 2021 Aachen Nations Cup. In 2022, Timmy led the US Team to a Silver Medal with an individual 7th place finish. The wonderful syndicate behind Timmy has owned him for many years, and have enjoyed watching Timmy become one of the most consistent performers in the sport.

Chin Tonic “Chin”

Foaled: 2012
Breed:
Holsteiner (Chin Champ x Quina)
Sex:
Gelding
Owned By:
Hyperion Stud

Chin Tonic was found as a 2 yo stallion by one of Will’s beloved owners, Vicky Castegren of Hyperion Stud. Although Vicky had some hopes of keeping him a stallion, he was gelded at 5 years old before being imported from Holstein, Germany for Will to campaign. He has a sparkling career record, with multiple international wins at the 4* level. BothVicky and Will have high hopes for him.

Dondante “Al”

Foaled: 2010
Breed:
Irish Sport Horse (Pacino x Euroclover)
Sex:
Gelding
Owned By:
Team Rebecca

Dondante, better known as “Al,” is one of Will and Katie’s favorite horses. Found as a 4 yo at Cooley Farm, this horse continues to impress as he has climbed the ranks in eventing. He has a fabulously consistent jumping record, including a 1st place finish at the Carolina 4* and two top 10 5* finishes in 2022. His owners, the Four Star Eventing Group, are also some of Will’s oldest supporters, many of whom have been owning horses for Will since the very beginning.

Tight Lines “Phish”

Foaled: 2007
Breed:
French Thoroughbred (Turgeon x Tel Quel)
Sex:
Gelding
Owned By:
The Conair Syndicate

Tight Lines, better known as “Phish”, was a racehorse in France before he started eventing. Will found him in France as a 6 year-old, brought him back to the US and went on to win the National 3* and 4* Championships at Fair Hill International, as an 8 year old and 10 year old respectively. He has since gone on to compete at 5* level, and was Will’s partner in the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon. The Conair Syndicate includes some of Will’s oldest supporters, and have been able to follow this horse to some of the biggest events in the world.

Cold Red Rum “Rum”

Foaled: 2013
Breed:
Westfalen (Cassone x Quo Vada, Quo Vados)
Sex:
Gelding
Owned By:
Cold Red Rum Syndicate

Rum (occasionally referred to as “Rumpelstiltskiiiiin”) is an exciting addition to the barn sourced through Dirk Schrade in Germany. This talented, flying ginger is currently owned by a developing syndicate comprised of both long-term and new supporters of Will. The Maryland 3*L was Rum’s first real three-day test in the States, and he showed loads of potential and flashes of brilliance, particularly in the cross-country phase where he tackled a serious ten-minute track with ease. More international experience and eventually an Advanced move up will be the aim for Rum in 2023.

Larcot Z “Dwight”

Foaled: 2013
Breed:
Zangersheide
(Kocotte De La Londe x L’arc De Triomphe, Socrate De Chivre)
Sex:
Gelding
Owned By:
Reagan Lafleur

Larcot Z mostly goes by Larco, but he is also lovingly called “Dwight” by his owner, Reagan, because of the natural middle part of his forelock. This talented horse was sourced and produced by Reagan Lafleur, a student of Will’s. However, upon passing the bar exam, Reagan passed the reins to Will while she works as a lawyer in Texas. Larco garnered top-five finishes at the 3* level at both Great Meadow and Morven in 2022. Despite being a plain bay, Larco catches the eyes of many with his effortlessly exuberant jump. We are grateful for Reagan’s trust in keeping Larco with us and we are looking forward to his continued development!

TKS Cooley “Tommy”

Foaled: 2010
Breed:
Irish Sport Horse (Vivaldo Van Het Costersveld x Cruising)
Sex:
Gelding
Owned By:
TKS Cooley Syndicate

Another horse found out of Cooley Farm, TKS Cooley, or “Tommy K" as he is known in the barn, might be one of the best pure jumpers in the sport of eventing. To this point, he has never had a rail in international competition and has won the $25k Eventing Grand Prix in Ocala, FL the past two years running. Bought as a 6-year-old, Will has quietly produced this extraordinarily careful horse. He made the jump to the 4* level in 2019 and has performed well, with a 5* debut in sight at the end of 2020.
